Actually a song written in '79. As such, Jim and Ron were the original names used.
The Race

Every time I watch the race,
I don't really understand,
why the candidates all save their space,
with money in their hands.

There are people in our town,
who are voting for their clown,
the clown knows that
the system's breaking down.

I guess it's love to kill us,
to send us to war,
love
to use us, to propel your car.
love
burning love.

Every time I hear the case,
that's really getting out of hand.
I know John and Barrack think we're a waste,
but we have to make our stand.

There's the love that we have found,
hear the children make their sound,
their stereos will soon be turning down.

I guess it's love to kill us,
to send us to war,
love
to use us, to propel your car.
love
burning love.

Every time I look at space,
I don't really understand.
Why the presidents gave up the pace,
to search for our new land.

There's a rumor going 'round,
that as soon as we reach town.
The oil that they need
will burn it down.

The above song originated in 1979 with the first names of the presidential candidates running for office in America: Jim and Ron. It was then updated in 1984 to use the names "Walt and Ron." Then in 1988: Mike and George. 1992: George and Bill. 1996: Bill and Bob. 2000: George and Al. 2004: George and John.

I find it very sad that the lyrics STILL APPLY in 2008. It is my hope that no matter who wins, the next administration will end the need for me to update this song in 2012.
