trying to keep a capsizing ship afloat
Dearest Hope

I am skipping the formalities and the assumptive hi-how are yous
I am coming on raw and strong
more virile than our mothers combined

because , from the curves of our independently feminine feet to the frayed, free
thinking, sometimes short circuiting wiring that inhabits our grey matter,
you and I are bound

we were bound when our youngest roots began to stretch out and intertwine,
guiding each other to water and nutrients in the soil. how lucky we are to be sowed into the earth as sisters. sisters willing to grow crooked and gnarled if it meant each other's sunlight

you are the girl who knows my deepest and darkest, and i am the girl who knows yours. let's pull our skeletons out of the closet and dance with them under the moon, casting away trepidation and past mistakes

we were bound, and our braided roots have rendered us inseparable, i am bound to you to see to it that you continue to grow into a strong, beautiful, bountiful tree.
