Obsession. Love. Are you in love with your partner truly, or the idea they represent?

Secret Lover

Lets love then, you and I,
underneath the moonlit sky.
On top of the fragrant grass meadow,
next to the wise bark trees that sway and fro,
where the faint chirping of the critters,
sing their songs for us and only us alone,
and a lonely breeze caresses our souls,
where we can forget our sorrows and woes.

Once, twice, why not thrice?
Your arms, your arms, oh in your arms
I find solace, my heavenly heaven,
my only honest home.
Your eyes, your eyes, oh in your eyes,
I see what I can become, what you make me to be.
Reflected there I see a stranger that looks like me,
who smiles with the knowledge of the
moon and the stars and the sky.
Who smiles knowingly as if she could see,
who I really am only pretending to be.
In your serene, endless blue-green-
I drown.

So let’s make love then, you and I,
underneath the moonlit sky.
Again, again and again,
for the night is our trusted friend.
Why not until the sun rises from her bed,
Until her rays hit my mask,
and you can finally see what an
illusion being in love can be.
