An abandoned child learns to love again... (Villanelle)
Word Count: 108
Genre: Poetry/General
Form: Villanelle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villanelle)

Seeming to feel so safe
with eyes full of joyousness,
No more expected to be a waif

Hardened against love's strafe
Each step taken with boldness,
Seeming to feel so safe

No longer needing to feel unsafe
Yearning to enjoy love so careless,
No more expected to be a waif

Mistrust so easily learned began to chafe
From kindness, compassion and dearness,
Seeming to feel so safe

Encouraged by love's strafe
Life's moments now painless,
No more expected to be a waif

In the passing of time earned vouchsafe,
To the bonding of love and fondness
Seeming to feel so safe,
No more expected to be a waif
