A poem from my rumination this day
Basking in reflection of a past day and place,
I sit here as the sun illuminates my face.
It shines it’s mighty rays upon my upturned lips
as memory ebbs and flows like silver sailing ships.

It’s not another day for turning up the sod.
No planting or reaping – just a look towards God
to see where I have been and where I’ve yet to go -
a time for taking life down to a pace that’s slow.

Marveling that I live; there have been times to die.
They have passed before me even though I didn’t try.
By some miracle, I’m still living on the land
that God graciously committed unto my hands.

I topple and tip, like a turtle in his shell
but somehow I right myself after a time spell.
I would rather not spend so much time on my back,
but resilience is not something I seem to lack.

Further down life’s pathway, I cannot clearly see
what may be in my way to lift or humble me.
But this one thing I know with total resolution;
no matter what happens, God has a solution.
