Written on the plane to Greece, looking through the window at the clouds before dawn.
Opaque Dreamscape

Darkness slowly fades around the edges, and
The beginnings of Blue Heaven
Ascend.

My cloud desert,
Transforms from so
High above.

The sky shifts yellow
In one corner of the universe.
Desert clouds glide like silk in zero G
With the faint glow of the dawning day.

My desert is now a dust storm
On Jupiter, or Saturn.
Clouds swirl and swarm
In a violent mist.

Yellow floods the imaginary edge now.

My window is frosting,
Particles stick like
Sparkling glass spiders.

Light unfurls through the abyss,
Revealing the contours of my Sahara.

It is now my huge Cottonball Kingdom.

I will fall and be caught.
The clouds will catch me
In their velvety cushion like Father’s arms.
As I fall like a feather,
My vane absorbs the cool misty air.

Yellow has turned to blue, my topaz to lazuli.
And Blue Heaven has come!
A stretch of golden saffron and my mother’s blush
extends like a river in the distance.

The sun seems to hide here,
Gathering its blazing courage.

Clouds slide by like cashmere
In an opaque dreamscape.
To reveal the empty reflection
Of Helios on Poseidon.

A clean slate.

There is no space now and there is no time.
I am here,
Gazing through my frosted window.

The plane tilts and reveals the sun!
He has risen,
His rays pierce like polished daggers,
His body burning in flight.

This splendid sun is perfect –
Who needs a thousand?
