playing in the sand
On a hot August day we drove to stone beach
to enjoy some sun and cold Atlantic waves.
A small breeze came across the reach.
We built impregnable castles and sand caves.

My castle had a shell draw bridge and towers,
Em's had a fair maiden imprisoned by knaves.
Feathers were windows; we couldn't find flowers.
We built impregnable castles and sand caves.

We dug motes and told stories of old times,
Knights and battles, winners and their slaves,
even prisoner's in dungeons for their crimes.
We built impregnable castles and sand caves.

On a hot August day we drove to stone beach.
We built impregnable castles and sand caves.
