warm memories while far from home.
I stoop to pick up
A plastic blue bell flower,
Stick it in the brim
of my battered straw hat,
and wander on my way.
Alone but not lonely now,
I remember
Spending the summer with Emily,
Laughing, joking, touring and traveling.

It is winter back home already,
But eternal summer here.
It is easy to be homesick
But hard to be sad.
Even when it rains,
I am glad to have
The memories we create together.
Memories that last forever,
Like a found blue vinyl flower.
