a picture captures memory
They say a picture
takes 1/400th
of a second of light,
time, and space
and freezes it
forever in place.
I tried not to grin,
I think my eyes
look scrunchy,
and my teeth look bad.
Emily was next to me,
beaming brightly.
Her infectious glee,
never fails to get to me.
Despite my best efforts,
I grinned too.
The photograph
saved our faces,
in smiles
of the brightest hue.
