The Large blank looking double doors begin there nightly journey towards closing
The Large blank looking double doors begin there nightly journey towards closing off the outer world from the sheep with in, the rest of the herd never notices the doors nor do they acknowledge,
the facts of the shepherds dog watching just beyond making sure the herd never strays to far from the barnyard enclosure.

Each night at dusk the nightly ritual begins anew,
Each morning at dawn the herd is released to go through their daily tasks,
Only for the nightly closing in and removing of extraneous thoughts,
and reminded to conform to the goals of the shepherd.

The young are routinely and religiously shaved to gain more material for the shepherd to sell while the aged and those who are to strong are slowly ever so slowly killed off,
so that the majority is made of those who willfully follow the herd never asking questions never straying from uniformity.

While my brothers, sisters, and family only notice the doors at a passing glance I watch this nightly and wonder what lies behind those large blank slate doors of such importance that the herd must, be returned to the cosy confines of the barn with the setting of the sun after dusk each night,
Then I slowly turn and find a place to bunk down after watching the slowly greying out of the sun and the shepherds trusty sheep dog,
only to wonder when I will be led to slaughter, just because my mind has begun to question the existence of myself the flock and the shepherd.

Oh the life I could live if I was one of the weak minded one of those who willingly
close their mind each dusk to allow it to open again each dawn,
One of those who never notice the doors that close on use shutting out the yard outside and the lush tasty grass just beyond, one of those who goes about the daily tasks only to be reviewed and enclosed, to be put to bed ritualistically each night.

My observations cut off each night as my eyelids grow to be too heavy to watch and wish that those doors would open and never close again. To be free of all need to be one of the herd to be the shepherd of my own life, and to watch as my fellow herdsman become the shepherds of their own lives as well.

Without any knowledge being with held from us but with nothing new to be learned either, Oh to have the life, the life of the shepherd, the leader and lawmaker, the power to change not only my own fate but that of my followers and citizens.

Then the nightly dreams of the life that could have been plays out through my eyes, and just as the night before.

Just as my dream reaches its apex I hear the call of the shepherd yelling to get moving and am forced to awaken to watch the doors move slowly outward never allowing more than for of the herd to leave freely at one time .

Then I notice the large white van parked in the adjoining lot and wonder if my time to be slaughtered has come, it's only as I watch the blank doors at the back of the van closes that I get my answer, which is the goal of us all in the long run to go as far and wide as we can before the nightly closing of the barn doors, and eventually the clang of the slaughter vans doors as we are pushed inside.
