A poem displaying the thoughts of a fallen soldier about what we have learned from them.
The guns boom and crackle above,
The shouts and screams of my fellow men
Echo in my head.
But why can I hear these haunting calls
That plagued me so long ago?
For I am already gone,
Lain to rest for years on end,
Just a memory of a time worse off,
A lesson not yet learned,
Did our lost lives not teach?
They couldn't have,
For the guns still boom and crackle above
And the shouts and screams still echo,
While soldiers like I was once
Still fall on blood stained ground.
