I try my best to see a light
But even in the day it is night
My curtains are perpetually drawn
Preventing the onset of dawn

No birds do I hear sing
No joy would the sound bring

Entrapped by the darkness around
No other souls here to be found
Alone in the dark I resign
But on the outside I seem fine

To onlookers who gaze at me
Who think that I am free
Of the troubles others bear
The truth is they are not aware

That I cannot smile inside
Impossible for me to confide
In others who do not understand
That life to me is so bland

To them I am not even an enigma
So hard to shake that stigma

I continue to live and travel alone
Who I am will never be known.
