a bit about a job a while back
the job - rough draft

we had all been hearing the shots across the bordering city for days now
it reminded me of the crickets in the spring grasses back home,
loud and all encompassing. this truly is the dark continent
dark because all you see is dark, dark bodies dark eyes dark poisonous waters.
the new man wasn't their for the same reasons we were, most weren't.
he could not understand our ways, called us colonialists and crooks.
declared that our eyes were now blinded to the everyday and that we pushed it down
drank and fucked until we achieved oblivion. we disgusted him
but there was also an admiration for us he loathed to express.
his kind showed up from time to time men or women with a mission,
they were never there for the money. i gave him a week tops,
3 days later i heard him weeping in his room like a dog.
"bleeding hearts are for blood banks" Boss-man said and we left him
on an air strip carved out of the earth, alone with his self righteousness the next day.
five days after that i went home myself drank beer and tried to forget.
