Poem I wrote for my friend Lotus when her dad died earlier this year.
What do you do?
When the tears won't fall?
You're all torn up inside and bleeding
And you feel so small

Where do you go?
When there's no place else but home?
Yet, that's where your pain is coming from
And you still feel so alone

I wish I knew just what to say
To ease your heavy load
But all I can do is watch and pray
Because I know he's gone

Some hearts can never be replaced
This I know for sure
Some hands we'll never hold again
Some wounds don't have a cure

Some of us can't break down right now
You're showing no emotion
But I know you well enough to know
It's just to cover your confusion

Who do you call?
When you're up against the world?
It seems like there's no one else to turn to
Nothing matters anymore

How do you smile?
If your heart is on the floor?
Even the people who are closest to you
Have walked right out the door

I can't pretend to know
Just what you're going through
There's not much I can give away
But this much I can give to you

Some faces we cannot forget
This I know is true
He's the love you never will regret
The reason you feel so blue

Some of us can't afford to cry
But you can't be strong forever
Better let those tears fall down
It's better late than never

When you finally decide
You can't go on pretending
Let it all out from deep inside
Remember I'm right here waiting
