This is dedicated to my younger brother.
My bride and I traveled to see family
She had not met
In an effort to understand
Where I came from.
On a sunny Autumn afternoon
I stopped to see you again.

Peter, you have been gone
for over thirty years,
but I am always thinking of you;
the little brother and playmate
I lost so long ago.

You were given only two years
to share love and laughter.
I am beginning to reconcile
Feelings of loss and envy
of the eternity you get to spend in heaven.
I look to God with thanks
for the times we had together.

You are the brother and loved one
who colored my world for but a moment.
Life has continued without you.
I said a brief prayer
As we placed fall flowers
Upon your grave stone.
Until we meet again,
I love you little brother.
