me in a notebook nutshell
to blocks with different names
circling the same
as if there were some kind of ground to gain
we grind our heels as we,
and the seasons change
with home teams, and guilt
we'll find a sense of place

this town speaks when spoken to
we talk louder by the hour
so we try to forget our names
until only the concrete remains

now pour a granite load
and ponder on an ode
to broken bones and gauze and tin and You
and dedicate a land
to my smoking soda can
all the nights i spent
just me and my tv set

and yes i will agree
i've had my problems with the sea
but Sweetheart with anymore pronouns
i'll have to find someplace else to sleep

i'm honest like a brick
i sink faster with the ship
strength from some tin
i'd rather swim

and i think i've been a man
to briefly understand
that the more i talk the less You seem to bother with me at all

lets get this together in the basement
and rejoice, because we managed to suffocate another day
