man meets a woman
7:00 pm

A man walks into a subway station this particular subway station is as filthy as possible. The walls of the inside of the subway train are marred with graffiti and scribblings of all sorts along with urine stains against the walls and what appears to be fecal matter on the floor. The man boards a train. This traveler sees a woman sitting a few rows down. From his perspective she appears lonely, confused, perhaps even lost. She has little idea what beholds the rest of her night. The man sees her reading an intellectual magazine one in which he is familiar and since he is acquainted with the new subjects in the magazine he decides to comment on Stephen Hawking’s basic explanation of space time continuum. “Oh, Stephen is absolutely brilliant in that magazine. I love how he explains everything so perfectly.” He receives little to no acknowledgement. He appears let down, but in reality it is just what he expected. The female expresses a mood of disappointment as if he did not comprehend the magazines interview with Stephen hawking, the most brilliant man in the world.

A young boy seated at the table of his childhood home coloring while his mother prepares dinner for her family, “You know ma’, I can’t see too well in my left eye. It’s the right eye that counts anyways. Like the right hand of God.” He continues, “What if God was tricking us and he is the real Satan and the God we know, Jehovah, is the evil one? I don’t know about you, but I would rather remain neutral; that way if the end came, neither God nor Satan could define what we are and what we deserve. We were just love and tears and that’s it. Is that heaven or hell?” The mother continued her task.

He completely understood Mr. Stephen Hawking’s interview on the space time continuum. He merely felt it was necessary if he knew exactly if she understood it. The fact she had picked up the magazine on her own was enough to suffice for now. He continued the conversation, “Do you enjoy art?”

“Sometimes… Sometimes I can’t really tell if the artist is trying to express a mood or an image…”

“Well…. What is the difference?”

She smiles politely, as if she understands, but the truth is she has no idea what she is talking about. She simply agrees with everything he says so she can appear intelligent and pretty and charming. It works.

The two travelers become friends on the train. After many arguments and battles inside the males head he asks the lovely young lady out to dinner to a Chinese restaurant. She responds, much to his delight, with a yes, of course, and receives his hand and a gentle kiss, as if to say “I have found you.”

His eyes grow weary and his muscles grow tired. She takes him to bed and tucks him in for the night. She does not sleep in the same bed. The reasons for this was not discussed, but it was not questioned either.

The male awakes suddenly from a sharp pain in his thigh. He opens his eyes. He is being penetrated by a long metallic object injecting fluid, of some sort, into his body. He realizes where he is at: a mental hospital. The fluid is an extremely high dosage of sedatives.

“Doctor, He just had another memory attack of her.”

“He is seeking love?”

“Possibly, he appears to have no other desires other than her and that of the occasional playboy models.”

The female doctor replies, “Well, it is nice to see I am up to par with the rest of the gals.”

The man hears all this talking and is watching everything take place, but barely comprehends a word. “Darling, that was just a dream. You were not there. It was all fake. You are simply imagining it.” After hearing this from his a doctor the man believes it as truth. By now the sedatives have kicked in and his eyes grow incredibly heavy. He watches the doctor as long as he can.
