Faded Glory(revised)

Gather around boys they shouted and the young they came.
No longer boys nor where they men but they were ready.
To die for God,for country, for friends,
for family and mostly for Glory.

Pick up your swords, so they where told.
Light the canon, hear it ring, in the blaze of glory.
For courage they'lll decorate your chest, with medals and with honor.
So other may see your glory.

Your pride will grow so you were told as other’s pat you on your back .
You remember what was said, about a blaze of glory.
As those around fall and die, you would be called a hero.
Leaving you to wonder still. Why? They say "that war is glory".

Then it's your turn. You lie. Your life is fading.
You're dying in a blaze of glory.

Then you realize, that the blaze, becomes an ember in time,
In the years to follow your memory, why they called you a hero dies.
Leaving you with faded glory.
