A poem written as thanks to the ultimate Navigator.
Searching soul, alone again
Feeling empty, lost in sin
Wanting things I cannot name
The world turns, yet I’m the same
Cast adrift on open sea
I see You, can You see me?
The wind howls, the water soars
Lightning strikes, thunder roars
My vessel’s sinking, tossed aside
Scared to death, I try to hide
Comforting words, a gentle touch
Seeing nothing, I feel so much
Now You’re here, I let go of the wheel
The storm dies down, the sea grows still
Tears falling, body shaking
I put in words the choice I’m making
Gave up control, admitted “I’m lost”
Begged You to steer, no matter the cost
Peace overwhelms me, my heart grows light
The sun peeks through, the world grows bright
You take my burdens, toss them away
Wrap me in love and then You say
“I’m glad you asked; that’s all it takes
There is no charge. Your debt is paid.”
Confused, I ask, “How can this be?”
You smile and answer, “Believe in Me.”
Grateful heart now knows no fear
Although safe harbor is still unclear
I know You’re guiding my vessel poor
Finding You, I search no more.
