Clipper. A Sonnet.
Clipper.

A clipper ship stalks ocean paths ,
On a maiden voyage, with two fine masts.
Silken sails catch the devils breeze
when a hail comes from the starboard lee,
'Give way ma beauty' is his demand
but she ploughs on, in some alarm,
A buoy looms from the ocean shale
which sends the trader off the rail.
By altered trim, she veers to port,
her skeleton strained, by the torque.
Vibrating, pulsating, gyrating, wry mast
she does perform well, her expected task.
Soon she is safe in the firth
her holds fully charged, waiting a berth.
