Thinking back on winters from the past.
Written as an abcedarius poem in rhyme and meter, using 7-6-7-6 format. An abcedarius poem has 26 lines, each line starting with a new letter from A to Z.

A winding road leads from a
barren building where once
cherished memories were made
during forgotten times.

Every now and again, I
find my thoughts drifting to
grains of snow beneath my feet
howling wind in my ears.

Icy weather tickled bones,
joints stiff with each movement.
Keeping spring hidden from view.
Long, dark days lingered on.

Moments of timelessness in
numbing weather. Standing,
observing nature's gift of
peaceful land ever loved.

Quiet whispers volumes to
responsive ears, telling
secrets to those who listen.
Trust and cherish each word.

Under sunless skies, God is
visible. Sight of snow,
wintry chill, bringing all joy
'xcept those who reject.

Yield to presence, accept the
zen. Memories live on.
