I saw my love, deep in darkness descended...

“Addio terra,          “Farewell earth, then,
Addio cielo,          farewell heavens,
esole, Addio.”          and sunlight, farewell.”

                             -”Tu se’ morta” L’Orfeo

I saw my love,
deep in darkness descended.
If these hands can pluck a tune
to woo Death and recover Life,
then sing through me, great Tune!

I will follow…
I will follow you down…

I saw my love,
underground and covered in shade.
To the ends of the earth I would go,
and further still, and deeper,
if I could but replace one grain of Time…
Ah, but Life moves forward as I weep.

And down I come…
And down I climb…

Yes, I will remember you
but cannot forget your fate…
