Poem, for mom

I picked up the phone to call you today,
Your grandson is growing tall,
I was wondering if you wanted to have lunch,
We need to catch up,
It’s been nearly two months since we talked,

My birthday is coming soon,
And so is yours,
I won’t send you black roses this year,
I may buy myself some bubble bath.

There is so much I want to tell you,
I do know you know I love you,
It doesn’t hurt to remind you,
I picked up the phone to call you,
I cried when I knew I couldn’t,
Ever call you again.
