Two people, once strangers, turned friends, turned lovers, turned strangers.....
Once we were strangers passing by on ther street,
We'd offer up a smile then stare down at our feet,
The two of us were both courteous but shy,
Forgotten about the moment we passed by.

Until fate took a hand in our curious meetings,
Forcing us beyond our most casual greetings,
We chatted and laughed about simple topics,
Taking great care to avoid all specifics.

As the time wore on we grew to be friends,
Forgetting the broken hears we were trying to mend,
Allowing ourselves to be consumed by the feeling,
Of finding each other much more than appealing.

Everyone who saw us said we looked good together,
That our relationship was going to last forever,
That's what we believed and thought to be true,
That you'd always love and I'd always love you.

But we seemed to both have too many differences,
Opposite behaviours were mistaken for belligerence,
We increasingly ceased to laugh with each other,
Soon finding our presence more like a bother.

So we parted and each went our own seperate ways,
Reminising sorrowfully on those long ago days,
Now we are strangers passing by on the street,
Avoiding eachothers gaze staring down at our feet.
