how motherhood ages me
The Lines

I watch my reflection.
Still young, but youth
Has left my body.
I am beyond beauty;
It has fizzled out.
I trace the lines
My son has left me,
Up my pale thigh,
Past my bulging belly
To my saggy breasts.
I see the lines creep
Under weary eyes,
Others travel my brow.
I mourn my youth.
I must celebrate my son's.
