        THIS BOOK

This book is for you to read and digest

when at dawn, you wake up,

Tottering from your slumber of pace,

At noon, drenched in sweat of toil:

At night, beside the glowing fire,

Listening to the stories of origin

And in sleep: eyes shut to the drain

Of this book.

This book is your companion

On journeys far reaching than spent:

Of destinations you do not know

And leg sores open a vast well of

Wounds in the wall of your soul,

Open this book and read

Through your mind the memories of yesterday

Stuttering today into tomorrow, unknown-

Clutch it in your brain,

Hydra-headed tetrach to jungle

A song of the forest over passionate fragment

That opens the shrine of my hand

And reservoirs damp with my reverence

And door open to my disceners.

When men seek no more to reflect and

Longings walk away the dream of shadow;

That is when I'll finish writing this book.
