love dies, true love dies, or do we destroy it?
There once was a dream
like every other woman's dream.
Dreamt as a girl.
Nurtured as a teen.
Of the one true love.

The days and years bring plenty of "what if's" and even more "maybes",
but all-in-all, there are many, many more "no's".

Then, one day he comes.
Just as she dreamed him.
He is tall and fair.
Strong and tender.
He is goodness.
He is true.
And, all the wait seems not so long
and not so hard.

The toad she kissed one night outside the club,
a real toad on a dirty sidewalk...did the trick.
Just like in the fairytale.
And she was amused to think it could.

As lovers, they were
even and equal.
Desperate and passionate.
Two hearts not holding back, but jumping in.
It was magic.
It was easy.
It was without effort -- the love.

They felt blessed...lucky.
Surely this was unique.
And, everyone around them believed it too.
The epitome of what love should be.

As husband and wife, they were filled with hope.
They had other dreams to make come true.
Together.
But then came storms.
Trials and tribulations.
Hard years and endless disappointments.

The more they disappointed each other, the more they disappointed themselves.
Setting them adrift in a sea of pain.
At first they swam tethered, but in time disconnected.

And there the effort ended.
There were no ties.

Even true love dies.
