My winning poem, featured in "A Celebration of Young Poets". This was from 6th Grade
The Dance of Dawn and Night

Night's black ballet slippers dance upon her floor, the forest,
Dawn's gold slippers are cast upon a luminescent hill.
Night's shadowy hair twists around her pearl white eyes,
Her sister's ruby hair is vibrant upon the calm blue sky.
Night brings sleep to the Earth, her comfort angelic,
Dawn wakes the Earth with a gentle light.
Stars and Moon accompany Night,
Dawn is followed by light and the waking sounds of all creatures.
Night's black, glittery gown swirls around her legs.
Dawn's fiery crimson dress crackles as the dew nestles between her toes,
Fresh morning air radiates and becomes her perfume.
Night's skin is bathed in moonlight, ebony eyes sparkle like stars.
Both sisters share the dance,
But each dances alone.
