A Christian's overwhelming wonder of how one could recieve undeserved love.
And Love He Is

I cling to You, O breathe of my life,
Who gives me pastures of bread and wine
Your cross You embraced
Scourged for my sake

And even then You did not rage
Even then when Your body was flayed

I saw in You eyes still tender
Hands unwilling to rise
Not a single word did you utter
For man You could not despise

I stood in Your midst and watched uselessly
As the God of my life was beaten to sleep
That crown they forced on You; my name was on it
And yet You accept the very pain of it!

For what have I done to receive Your care
I am the dust of earth, am I not?
And still You insisted to be there
To watch me be saved and watch yourself rot

O Lord, O Lord, what has Your people done?
Marked with sin to reject the one and only Son?
You came to love they who loved to hate
Could I have given You such an awful state?

If so, then take me, Lord God, into Your care
If You have done so much, why should I despair?
The demon in me is lost and my sin forgiven
The wait of my heart lifted, redemption proven

And, lo, I fear no more, for in truth My Redeemer lives
And I cast my soul into His hands and know His love He gives

What am I to have love in Him
Mere man I am, and Love He is
