A poem to help me deal with abusive situations in my life
You told me you loved me

Wanted to be with me forever

Then you laid your hands on me

Then you tripped the lever



Each time you say you are sorry

Ignoring the shards of glass in my heart

Each time you tell me not to worry

While I am silently being ripped apart.



How can something that is supposed to make you happy

Hurt more than anything on this Earth?

How can love be as deadly and damaging

As shards of glass in your heart?
