A poem about the nicest gift I ever received, and simultaneous the most despised one.
The bag in my closet calls out to me
“Don’t let me become just a memory”
I look away, “get out of my head”
Yet I still envision the crimson red
The only color amidst black and white
My features are captured so clear and so bright
It haunts me still though time has elapsed,
This concrete proof that we shared a past
I can’t bear the sight of your masterpiece,
A painful reminder that acts as a tease
I love it. I do. Don’t get me wrong
But it’s full of false hope, and those days are gone
In the bag it stays, while my heart may break
You truly are my "favorite mistake.”
