A poem with a theme of escapism and fantasy written while feeling very trapped.
         Forget

Here I hide
Behind the layers
I shiver to think of losing them
Of these walls tumbling down
Because where would I hide then?
Run away for good.
Be someone else
Someone better or someone worse
Wouldn’t matter either way
I wouldn’t need anyone but everyone would want me
Mysterious in tall black boots
Something out of a 70s movie
Long dark hair
And an attitude to boot
Wouldn’t really be cool
Just crazy.
Everyone would whisper behind my back
But I wouldn’t care
I’d be too far into the fantasy
The things my mind would create
Would interest me far more than reality
Family would miss me at first…
Then move on.
Forget
