Happy birthday, dear mother ....

Image for the poem - Everything You Do

One quiet, beautiful night,
two young lovers, carefree;
created a passionate soul
to add to our family tree.

A lady driven to succeed,
in this life on her own terms.
She didn’t need permission,
or even her parent’s affirms.

Mom, you taught me courage.
Good morals you did instill.
Someone I'll always look up to.
Yes, always did, always will.

Our lives may not be perfect,
but they still fit like a glove.
And I don’t recall a minute
when I didn’t feel your love.

Growing up, I was weird,
the odd girl in every crowd.
Liked to make up stories,
and play music much too loud.

But you shook your head,
knew I’d grow up someday.
I’d have kids of my own,
then I’d surely pay…

How’d you know that mom?
Through it all, you did know best.
Over years, our friendship grew
and your worries never did rest.

I may be an adult now,
but I still need your smiles,
your advice and your love.
It’s just across the miles.

So on this, your special day,
I hope this does the trick.
I know you saw this comin’
After all, you’re psychic.

Happy birthday dear mother.
All my love goes out to you.
I thank you for my life,
and for everything you do.

*Written in honor of my mother on her birthday ... Love you Mom. *Heart*
