just something i can relate to
Black roses on black backgrounds

One boy alone, his home

Gray sunlight pierces dark skylines

Another day he spends alone

Encapsulated by the sound of singing

The boy sits, his back to a tree

A bird flies down, his new companion

Gives him one more reason to be.

The boy asks the bird what should he do

The bird offers but silence, a reply

The boy looks up to the darkest of skies

And then he begins to cry.

There’s a girl in the picture, the boy’s never seen

She stands alone just the same

If only the boy had known she was there

Then he could have hope again

Twas the bird that introduced them

The boy still sat by his tree

The girl placed a hand on his shoulder

And whispered silently.

From her touch poured the purest of light

It blinded and dazzled the boy

And in this new light he saw colour again

And somehow, for the first time, felt joy

Red roses, on blue backgrounds

A boy and a girl alone

The boy smiles subtly, just to himself

Oh how the boy has grown
