A villanelle/love story in waltz rhythm

I move my arms, I move my feet:
a lonely lilting waltz refrain
where lust and love so softly greet

the soft caress of minds that beat:
the wistful, wanting, willing, strain -
I move my arms, I move my feet.

Across the room, into the street
a rhythmic dance down lover’s lane
where lust and love so softly greet

remembered rhythms yet remain.
I hear them now, so winsome, sweet:
I move my arms, I move my feet.

Love lived in dreams that did not meet.
From far away - a waltz refrain
I move my arms, I move my feet
where lust and love so softly greet.
