Rain, the companion

Back at home, and back in time
There was a child waiting for rain
All through the seasons, dawn to dusk
Watching paintings in the sky

When it is about season
The sky would blush, with hues of purple
A rainbow would show
In seven colors from woods to woods

Rain used to tell her when it comes
Coloring in the sky, dense feeling in the air
Cows calling ‘take me home…’
Toads singing ‘welcome again…’

Running to the porch
She would wait for the rain
From behind the hills
It would come slow but steady

Starting with a humming
Turning clearer on the way
The roar would come through woods
Loud and clear

One big drop on her face
Just to say hello
And it would pour
And she would dance all the while

Floating paper boats
Jumping into puddles
Watching bubbles form and break
Till someone catches to bring back home

Years later
Moved in time and place
Rain, though doesn’t roar
Still fills the heart with joy.
