A poem I wrote for the Pond Poetry Contest based on a picture muse and a Quatern format.
The Other Side

The other side, where green trees grow
And dance in winds that gently blow
Lavender flowers of richest scent
Waft sweetly along the paths bent

The warm sun shines, the day’s aglow
The other side, where green trees grow
But I’m here now with miles to bear
In a day of night, dark despair

Where bogs of sadness hold me here
Across from what I want so near
The other side, where green trees grow
Yet I remain afraid to go

From where the wind hurls hateful pride
The path is cold and hard to ride
I look across the great divide
The other side, where green trees grow
