A poem about longing to be accepted.
Please don’t get excited, it is only me
I’ve merely gone out of my way
To make sure you’re happy

Please don’t get excited, I’m really no one great.
I’m just the one who thinks of you
When the night is dark and late

Please don’t get excited, I’ve lost all sense of pride
I simply came to see you
Knowing I’ll be pushed aside

Please don’t get excited, I don’t matter anyways
Simply the girl you put down
Who still fills your ears with praise

Please don’t get excited, that’s something I haven’t earned
I plainly have love for all
That shall never be returned

Please don’t get excited, as in times of past
I’m just starting to give up now
I can’t always be put last
