Rumford Maine
How beautiful you look
in the dark of the moon.
Under lamp light
my shadow is indistinct.
My painted memories
only carry daylight
dreams.
I am unprepared for this;
a welcome assault
upon my vision.

The Fire Station
and old Town Hall,
where they make decisions
that make our community tick,
and tempers boil,
stand silent,
dreaming of better days,
not far away.

Traffic lights
flash a slow dull yellow:
use caution...go slow...
be quiet
the heart of the town
is sleeping on...
ssshhhhh...
don't wake her.

How beautiful you look
in the dark of the moon.
Under lamp light
my shadow is indistinct.
My painted memories
still carry dreams
of beauty and remind me
that soon we all
must wake
and go on living
in our town.
