Graceful Dreams

running through the tall grass
trees rushing past
keep going or he will catch you
don't stop to look

butterflies fly
down by the water
you're so close
to the sandy shores of safety

a shadow passes above
something lands in front of you
black and sleek he waits
the panther of your dreams

frozen you stand
waiting for the end
a growl escapes his throat
as he stares at you

he crouches low
ready to spring
you hope that the end will be quick
black grace leaps forward
