At work. The places where I noticed.
Where?

Outside the employee entrance.

Where we punch in. Where we punch out. In the dingy little hallway
littered with flyers where our days begin and end.

Behind the counter. By glass display cases.

In the back room. On the phone. Upstairs in the restaurant,
stealing your fries and coke. The small table, wicker chairs,
knees grazing.

You thought I didn’t notice.
But we’re running out of time, and I wish you’d see me noticing.
