Class assignment. A narrative poem, subject, Betrayal.

Betrayal

They didn’t see me sitting there
It didn’t look that they’d care
They hide out in open view
Their affair wasn’t brand new

The place was smoky and dark
Their drinks hitting there mark
Touching when they were able
Planning at the darkened table

Spoken softly behind his back
Their hard words cold and black
Revealed slyly in the dark
Now overheard and stark

In friendship’s disguise
Betrayal certainly hides
Their secret schemes
Their hidden dreams

Clothes of love so suffice
To cover two hearts of ice
A colorless disguise
Of lying silent eyes

Grasping clutching gripped
No regard for heart ripped
How will it stay whole
His honest open soul

Enough is heard and I am rising
I say there is no use in disguising
Now that their evil plans are revealed
My brother’s heart lies in Potters field
