I looked through the eyes of a friend, and it inspired me to write
Your eyes are the windows to your soul
Every emotion a printed reflection of what’s going on inside
Always chasing ghosts of an emotional wreckage
Your body has been carved to compare all the pain and agony endured

Silently you walk the earth, scared to let the world see what lies beneath your skin
Your past, a taunting dream, of what you left behind
Your words to others are like lyrics to a beautiful song
You live for the music within that you spread around

So many wars you have battled inside
So many bleeding wounds that you try to hide
And every time you cry, you can hear your heart torn to bloody shreds
As you try to put everything together, another piece hits the ground, until all is just one bloody mess

You blame yourself for all the nightmares that endlessly chase you
You blame yourself for all the pain you drag behind you
You keep knocking on the door of forgiveness......
But you can’t forgive yourself

Your helping hand is slashed open, but you still grab the one hanging from a cliff
You invited these to fill the emptiness that surrounds you, to keep you from your biggest enemy, yourself
And as the end of day grow near
You prepare yourself for another night of battle
