Drinking and drving
Accident

The lights around me,
Dim and dark.
The fire burns beside me.
My heart sank low,
As tears began to flow,
Down my numb cheeks.
Off my chin and onto the cold street
Laying on my back
I close my eyes
Hoping all this was a lie
It had been my worst fear,
To die
And there was nothing I could do
But lie alone in the road
Hoping help would come soon.
My body all battered and beaten
There was blood on my hands
And on the road around me
I think it is mine.
Loud sirens and screams fill the air
But no one notices me in dispair
I am unable to move
Unable to speak
I want to yell
I want to scream
And I wonder
What happened to the people around me
I don't remember what happened
It must have been bad
Because my body is aching
And I feel really sad.
I tried to yell for my dad.
A man leaned over me
It was him
The man who cared if I lived
I tried to hug him
Around the neck
But my arms stayed planted beside me
Limp and wet.
I tried to tell him I loved him
And I'd always be his little girl
But the words never left my mouth
It was hard, to see him cry
I wanted to tell him I was still alive.
But I couldn't say a thing
I just watch the tears fall from his eyes.
In seventeen years I'd never seen him cry.
I watch people walk by my head
I knew these people
They were my friends
Bloody and mangled
Broken and bruised
Aparently they won't loose
I wanted to cry
But my eyes never left
The clouded sky
I couldn't understand
Why they just walked by
And when they looked at me
They all would start to cry
The noises grew louder
My ears rang from the screams
And a voice suddenly said
Words that shatterd my dreams
"It's a shame, he was drunk,
But she will pay the price."
Then my dad fell to his knees
Just shaking his head
My brain swirled in circles
And I lost my breath
As the lights dimmed around me
And then I saw death
A single tear fell down my face
As death took me to another place
And the last thing I saw
Before all light turned to dark
Was my lifeless body
Laying beneath the drunk drivers car.
