An odd realization at Hells Gates...
You press your face up to the bars,
Of the burning gates of hell,
You long that life would come again,
You hear the ominous bell.

You wonder how this came to be,
And where it's going to turn,
Is this how your life should end?
As you start to singe and burn.

You think of what you did,
And what you could have done,
You watch the fiery gates of hell,
As they collapse on everyone.

Relief is in your breath,
As the gates fall to the ground,
You think the devil will leave you be,
But then you hear a sound.

Rising from the forsaken earth,
Is the evil creature himself,
His face masked, his head cloaked,
Stripped of any wealth.

He tells you that it's over,
It's time to come with him,
As though you had a choice,
As though it were a whim.

You step one foot forward,
Yet suddenly think to ask,
What he wants and why you're here..
Or what is under the mask.

You seem to lose your fear,
You wish to see his face,
The mask crumbles like the gates,
It's gone without a trace.

You stand in gaping horror,
As you recognize the eyes,
The nose and the lips familiar,
You truly realize.

YOU are the one they fear,
The thing they truly dread,
They wish to never meet you,
When they're cold and dead.

Hell is home sweet home,
A prison for you, yourself,
You're forever burning, forever wishing,
To leave your baking cell.
