A poem about healing after being raped.
Blackened clouds hang above the cool, crisp waves
where I spent my summers hiding from those
who would see my skin, and my form fitting suit.
A time before God turned against me the hands of fate,
molding me into a woman
much too soon...

Rain drops dance on the water
making their way across the lake,
toward my empty, longing soul.
I plead with those heavenly tears
as they sting my flesh,
to wash away the cruel joke of time
exposing my once known innocence.

To be the girl I was, long before
I knew how to break a man's heart...

A time when thunder clashing above my head
would have sent me into Romeo's sheltered embrace.
I sit drenched on the sand,
mud clinging to my skin,
listening to the waves
Reminding me time cannot be washed away...
and neither can memories...

Within the hidden words of author's imaginations,
Fairy tales are true only to the silver screen.
I despise my ignorant youth...
As I shed a tear for the death of innocence.
Had I only believed in love...
for where would I be?
