a poem i wrote off the cuff
the mirror
I stand looking in the bathroom mirror.

It's just the same sad face everytime.

I look down.

The scars are still bright red puckered against my tan flesh.

They remind me of a time not long ago when the whole world was black.

I survived.

I go sit on the bed and try to get my running mind under control.

I get up and go back to the bathroom.

Again in the mirror lifeless eyes stare back at me.

I go and sit on the toilet with my head in my hands.

Still trying to get my mind to forgive and forget

Wondering when im gonna get my Once upon a time followed by Happily ever after.

Its not to be.

Wasnt in my plan.

Im back at the mirror with my hands curled so tight around the lip of the sink that my knuckles turn white.

Still those lifeless eyes still staring into mine.

A nervous sweat breaks out all over my skin.

I begin to tremble.

Im cold but not really.

A breath catches in my throat.

The world starts to turn black once more.

My last remembered thought.......how will i survive this time?
