The single best thing I have ever written.

Across the great chasms of the universe, where the dark was so deep and so black and so massive that it hurt the mind to look into it, where solar flares the size of worlds danced playfully on the outskirts of eternity, where even the burning stars looked scattered and pale, a small planet drifted, aimless and unambitious amongst the gaping, hungry dark.

Lands before time began.  Songs before sound.

And the tiny planet, lost and alone in a wasteland of space--was alive.  All of its creatures, all its angels and men--their footsteps, their cries, their stories, their love--their lives were the beat and pulse of its heart.  A living, growing mystery.
A quiet impossibility.

And in the dark, it survived.

THEN SUDDENLY, FROM OUT OF NOWHERE:

ZOMBIES ATTACKED!

Everything died. Even space. The end.
