A tribute to the plumeria with its beautiful and fragrant flowers.
Plumeria tree, rough and gnarled,
A giant spider spinning a web
By the garden wall, emitting
Sweet scent of blooms tasting of vanilla
Ice cream; one whiff and I’m reliving
Previous lives as in a dream.
Has an invisible hand endowed you
With mesmerizing powers to re-awaken
Memory of past time by your flowers,
Twirling in a breeze like dead flies,
Enticing me into your fatal embrace?
Through a kaleidoscope of branches and leaves,
I find wind clouds sun sky,
Hear the melancholy cooing of a dove,
The buzz of bees reaping a harvest
of love under plumeria tree.
