A character who discovers loneliness.
I left, never to be home again,
my head looked to the heavens above,
my steps were full of surety still,
and my heart craved not comfort, nor love!

For the 'alps have befriended many before me',
and with this belief I walked along,
and in the cold, silent evening,
without fear'O worry I move on!

Then softly, the heart calls out,
the eyes search for a company,
the soul yearns for a gentle touch,
the loneliness, an agony!

Here I am all alone,
my burdens alone I carry,
here I am on my own,
the trek, a wearisome journey!

A terrible sound to have to hear,
the beating of the lone heart,
how I long to lose in the crowd,
but here, I stand apart!

And through this hazy cloud,
I smile at this twist'O irony,
for to whom I had shown my back,
their backs they'd shown to me!

And I tend to my lone heart,
bearing that which was never meant to be,
for one said 'NO MAN; AN ISLAND",
Oh! how true, one could be!
